Coconut-oil_2Extra Virgin, Cold Pressed ORGANIC COCONUT OIL – Known to prevent free-radical formation and provide protection against them. It can help keep the skin from developing liver spots and other blemishes caused by aging or over exposure to sunlight. Easily absorbed into the skin, penetrating deep into the layers, it strengthens connective tissues creating supple skin and reducing sags and wrinkles. As the oil is absorbed into the cell structure, it brings relief to the skin and also aids in healing and repairing. In some cases, it has been claimed to restore damaged and diseased skin. It also helps remove the outer layer of dead skin cells, making the skin smoother and more evenly textured with a healthy shine. Coconut oil boasts many health benefits from its healthy Omega fats. One of the good fats, lauric acid, makes up about 50% of coconut oil. Lauric acid is a rare medium-chain fatty acid found in human breast milk. It supports healthy metabolism and is being studied for its anti-fungal, anti-viral, and anti-bacterial health-protecting properties.

Part of the “secret” that makes coconut oil such a healthful oil is its high lauric acid content—about 50 percent of coconut oil is lauric acid. This fat is quite rare in nature, and has a unique set of health promoting properties.

For example, your body converts lauric acid into monolaurin, which has anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-protozoa properties,  which may also help explain its potent healing powers when used topically for skin and scalp issues. Capric acid, another coconut fatty acid present in smaller amounts, has also been found to have antimicrobial activity.

Monolaurin (converted from the lauric acid in your body) is potent enough to destroy lipid-coated viruses such as:

  • HIV, herpes
  • Measles
  • Influenza virus
  • Various pathogenic bacteria
  • Protozoa such as giardia lamblia

shenutreeORGANIC SHEA NUT BUTTER – This is the fat of the African Shea Nut tree and has been traditionally used to reduce the appearances of fine lines, scars and stretch marks. It also eases a variety of skin irritants such as psoriasis, eczema and sunburn. It contains Vitamins A and E as well as antioxidants. ORGANIC PALM OIL – This luxury oil makes a nice hard bar of soap when combined with coconut oil. It is rich in Vitamin E and believed to offer protection against cellular aging.

VEGETABLE GLYCERIN –  Most glycerin comes from animal fats, but we use vegetable glycerin. This helps keep your soap completely VEGAN!  It’s so good for your skin you don’t really have to rinse it off, but you’ll be slippery if you don’t. This luxury moisturizer is contained in many high quality skin products because it pampers your skin, making it feel softer and look healthier. It nourishes your nails, cuticles, and helps your soap stay together so it doesn’t crumble away. It also keeps razors sharper and your skin smoother while eliminating the ‘tight’ feeling you skin might sometimes have after washing with a harsh soap. Since we use vegetable glycerin, we are able to keep our soaps 100% vegan with no animal products.  In addition, using soaps as a delivery method for essential oil distribution throughout the body increases permeability and effectiveness of the essential oils.

Fresh SPRING WATER water

SORBITOL – Created from berries, this moisturize stabilizer protects soap from drying out by helping it maintain freshness during storage.

aloALOE VERA GEL – whole leaf, food grade. This plant contains over 200 biologically active components. It supports normal muscle and joint function. Also known to help improve absorption of nutrients, support healthy immune system, enhance antioxidant support and reduce toxic nitrate levels.  Aloe Vera has also been shown to support the healing of first and second-degree burns and is approved by the FDA and often recommended by doctors for such use. Perhaps some of these qualities can be attributed to the fact that it absorbs into the skin almost four times faster than water – making it an excellent moisturizer and emollient. Its antimicrobial properties kill bacteria and its anti-inflammatory abilities make it a great solution for those with oily skin who may also suffer with acne, without leaving a greasy feel. The rapid stretching in skin causes small tears (commonly called “stretch marks”) that Aloe Vera gel can help heal and prevent.  It contains 75 known nutrients and powerful enzymes that directly promote healthy hair growth. It’s keratolic action, breaks down the sebum and dead scalp cells, allowing for further hair growth. It’s alkalizing properties can help bring the scalp and hair’s pH to a more desirable level, resulting in further hair growth promotion, while helping the hair retain water and moisture. skinThe molecules of essential oils are absorbed, almost instantly, into the body where they start having gentle, yet powerful effects and although they are referred to as oils, this is not exactly accurate. The liquids are truly concentrated juices of plant, flowers and barks. Essential oils do have the added benefits of amazing fragrances – giving you an incredible skin care experience. They are so small that when applied to the skin; they pass through the strateum corneum (the outer layer of the epidermis). From here the oil molecule passes through dermis, into the capillaries and into the bloodstream. Absorption also occurs through the hair follicles and sweat ducts.

There are many factors that effect absorption of an oil molecule. Both rate of circulation and the warmth of the skin increase blood flow to the surface, therefore increasing the skin’s ability to absorb the oil. Circulation and warmth can be increased by massage. The larger the area of skin that is covered, the more essential oils will be absorbed. The permeability of the skin is also a factor. Thinner skin ie: skin behind the ears and the inside of the wrists are very permeable. The palms of the hands and feet, armpits and scalp will more readily absorb oil molecules than the arms, legs, belly, back etc. Oils are also easily absorbed through cuts, scraps and abrasions, burns, eczema etc. Having clean skin is also beneficial as the skins pores will be clean and free of dirt, which may impede absorption.

Essential Oils can also be very powerful and should be mostly avoided if you are pregnant or have epilepsy. Our essential oils are ALL certified organic, wildharvested or therapeutic grade.  They are 100% pure steam distilled plant oils with incredible fragrance, exceptional depth, magnificent keynote, and are free of carriers and other impurities.

Frankincense Essential Oil is non-toxic, non-irritant and non-sensitizing and has been used for thousands of years for inner spiritual strength as well as to reduce scars, wrinkles, and fine lines. The Sumerians said it helped heal the body, the Ancient Egyptians said it made you look younger and live longer and our current scientific studies are finding many interesting benefits of Frankincense, including the ability to help reset cellular structure at the DNA level.

frankinwarriorEnergetically I see Frankincense as being about to go into the body and help correct the flow of our natural rivers. This is especially helpful in supporting our nervous system and is why Frankincense is so helpful in restoring movement after suffering a stroke.

Frankincense is considered a holy oil by many and in recent studies it has shown to suppress cancer cell viability. In a BBC article  immunologist Dr Mahmoud Suhail states “Cancer starts when the DNA code within the cell’s nucleus becomes corrupted. It seems frankincense has a re-set function. It can tell the cell what the right DNA code should be. Frankincense separates the ‘brain’ of the cancerous cell – the nucleus – from the ‘body’ – the cytoplasm, and closes down the nucleus to stop it reproducing corrupted DNA codes.”

Frankincense is said to help rejuvenate the aging skin, reduce fine lines and wrinkles and is effective with bacterial and fungal infections. It is also known to have a powerful grounding effect, enhancing our balance and joy in life while strengthening states of meditation and prayer. Frankincense contains sesquiterpenes that stimulate the part of the brain that controls emotions. It also helps the hypothalamus, pineal and pituitary glands that produce many of the important hormones in our body. And it helps strengthen the immune system by increasing leukocyte activity.

Therapeutic Lavender Essential Oil is in our Lavender and Sweet Magic Formulas.

We also no longer offer this plant in our concentrated Essential Oil line.

Not all oils are created equal. Because of a lack of industry standards and a lack of regulation on terms such as “natural” or “pure”, much of what you find at the drug store is NOT a therapeutic grade of essential oil and may lack real quality or even contain contaminants or adulterants (way more common than you’d think).

A LOT goes into creating a high quality essential oil. A good brand should follow these guidelines:

  • Proper plant varieties
  • Each plant grown indigenously for the healthiest plant
  • Grown without chemical pesticides, herbicides, etc
  • Harvested with precise timing to ensure peak properties
  • Extracted with proper temp and pressure to preserve oil molecules
  • Third-party testing of every batch
  • Stand behind the internal use of their oils
